Washington,
DC – High
school students attending
the Congressional
Student Leadership Conference
on Forensic Science will receive certification
by The Commission on Forensic
Education. The students receiving
certification by the Commission
on Forensic Education are recognized
as having a core set of skills
necessary to be successful
as future academicians and
professionals in the forensic
community.
Certification of students
completing the CSLC on Forensic
Science recognizes that students
have attained a general understanding
of forensic science and crime
scene investigation, developed
higher level critical thinking
skills and established an awareness
of important leadership aspects
including team building, communication,
decision making, and conflict
negotiation.
“We are extremely proud
to receive this recognition
from the Commission on Forensic
Education,” said Jan
A. Sikorsky, PhD, Director
of Academics for LeadAmerica. “The
CSLC on Forensic Science is
designed to provide an accurate
portrayal of forensic disciplines
and place great emphasis on
the development of critical
thinking and decision making
skills. I believe that the
Commission recognized the quality
of the academics and overall
experience of our programs
in offering this certification.”
The Congressional Student
Leadership Conference is a
10-day youth leadership program
held on the campus of Fordham
University, the University
of California at Berkeley and
Johns Hopkins University. The
program includes lectures,
academic and practical simulations
and leadership workshops and
is taught by college faculty
and subject matter experts
from the fields of law, law
enforcement and forensics.
In a hands-on learning environment,
students attending the CSLC
on Forensic Science conduct
a full analysis of a crime
scene, including 3-D computer-generated
facial reconstruction, ballistics,
fiber and blood spatter analysis,
fingerprinting, DNA analysis,
medical forensics, document
analysis and more.

Education is a membership organization
